Special Funds

The Santa Lucia School administration and leadership team is always planning for ways to enhance our building, our programs and the experience our families have in our community.  We are strategic in our vision of the future and still flexible enough to be able to seize an opportunity when one presents itself.

There are three ongoing initiatives at Santa Lucia as we start the second half of our first century:  one small and fairly modest, one medium (a little more ambitious), and one big, huge audacious goal.

Starting small but with an exciting project:  In the summer of 2013 the Parent Association donated their funds and their energy to building us a new Learning Resource Center in the lower level of the school.  This project will be launched in the fall of 2013 with a special blessing ceremony and reception.  There is great potential in our building for many similar projects — let us know if you would like to tackle one!

In the summer of 2012 we had a crew of wonderful volunteers in classrooms every Friday, making a small financial investment and a generous time investment to brighten the space in which the children spend their days.  One classroom at a time, we are replacing window shades, painting walls, replacing or repairing whiteboards.  This work is ongoing so if you would you like to help we would welcome you to the team.  The work in each classroom is running about $500.  Contact us if you’d like to tackle a room or two.

Our medium-sized offering is the acquisition of technology, specifically interactive white boards for each classroom.  We have three now and, with twelve to go, we have given ourselves a three year window to complete this work.  An investment of approximately $1,500 per classroom is required.  Watch for more information about the amazing ways that this technology enhances instruction.  And contact us if you’d like a more information or would like to visit a classroom to see how it works.  We promise, you’ll be impressed.

Our big, huge audacious goal is all of that; also ambitious, expensive and necessary.  We have known for some time that we need to replace all of the windows in our building – and we are blessed with many windows.  We are still in the dreaming / planning phase of this project but wanted to let you know about it in case you are in a position to write a very generous check.  As we said earlier, we are flexible and may have to take on this project one room at a time.  There are naming opportunities for significant investments; please contact us if you’d like to know more – and stay tuned for more information.
